The Dublin Historical Society is organized for the purpose to discover, collect and preserve documents and materials relevant to the history of Dublin and the surrounding area. The Society displays these materials at the Fletcher Coffman House and barn, 6659 Emerald Parkway, adjacent to Coffman Park. Further, the Society plays a role to identify, mark and encourage preservation of historic sites and buildings in and around Dublin. Additionally, the Society encourages study of and an appreciation for Dublin history.

For many years, the Historical Society has enjoyed a partnership with the Dublin City Schools, such that the Society is asked to participate on the committee to name the schools. It is interesting to note that in the Dublin City School system:

  • Elementary buildings are often named for landmarks and for historic persons, (Indian Run, Deer Run, Eli Pinney, Glacier Ridge),
  • Middle Schools tend to be named for historic persons from the community, (John Sells, Daniel Wright, Willard Grizzell), and
  • High Schools are named for geographic locations (Coffman Road, Scioto River, Jerome Township).
